Friends in Munugode, but arch rivals in Singareni

What's the secret of TRS party's Munugode success? Ask any analyst and he would say the alliance with the CPI has clinched victory from the jaws of defeat for the TRS. The TRS boss is even planning to formalize this alliance even for the 2023 elections so that the party can win over the rivals in undivided Khammam and Nalgonda.

But, the much-touted alliance has shown cracks in Singareni, where the elections to the Singareni Collieries employees union elections are due. The Left unions are wary of joining hands with the TRS. They feel that the TRS-backed union, which is now in power due to a slender majority, needs to be defeated this time. Any alliance with the TRS-backed union will be counter-productive, feels the CPI-affiliated AITUC.

The AITUC also feels that the RSS-backed BMS could emerge powerful if the Left and the TRS join hands. The BJP will fully exploit the vacuum and help the BMS grow. Hence the AITUC feels that it is important not to join hands with the TRS backed union. The AITUS is led by veteran Communist Vasireddy Sitaramaiah and is quite powerful. The union does not want to allow the BMS to grow.

Despite TRS MLC Kavitha Kalwakuntla's best efforts, the AITUC is not interested in entering into an alliance with the TRS. Kavitha is said to be busy trying to bring around the AITUS, but to no avail. So, the CPI and the TRS may have been friends in Munugode, but are arch rivals in Singareni.
