The disaster caught everyone's attention. As the issue was reported from Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, people are talking about the issue more.
A historic bridge in Gujarat's Morbi collapsed the other day leading to a disaster. The bridge was opened to the public recently and the bridge collapsed when hundreds of people were on top of it. The issue gave a big weapon for the opposition parties to take a dig at the Gujarat model.
Now a viral video appeared on social media which shows that few people shook the bridge making it weak. When people gathered on top of it in big numbers the bridge could not withstand it and collapsed. A few eyewitnesses also alleged the same.
Going by the vital video, around a dozen youths visited the bridge and they have shaken the bridge strongly. For the past few days, there are reports which say that some miscreants might be behind the disaster as the recently renovated bridge cannot collapse suddenly.
A few eyewitnesses also alleged the same speaking to the local media as per the reports. Their version is that they spotted a few youths who are shaking the bridge strongly. They warned the youths to not do so and also informed the staff.
The viral video gave another path to the disaster and the cops are reportedly probing the matter now from this angle. The identification process is underway to get the details of the accused youths who were believed to be behind this.
Yesterday was the big Hindu festival Chhath Puja which is celebrated by bathing in River Ganga and keeping fasting. For the same occasion, people visited the bridge which was built in the British era. The bridge was renovated and thrown open for the public recently. Sadly, the bridge collapsed and over 140 people lost their lives after drowning in the water. Several others sustained injuries and were shifted to the hospital facility for treatment.
