Has the TDP found the right candidate to defeat Kodali Nani?

The Telugu Desam Party appears quite determined to defeat former minister Kodali Nani, who is unrelenting in his attack on the TDP, its boss Chandrababu and his son Nara Lokesh, in the next elections. It is said to be looking for a formidable candidate who can defeat Kodali Nani. Chandrababu, sources say, wants to see the defeat of Kodali Nani for his abusive and highly personalised attacks on him and his son.
It is now being said that former minister and Krishna district strongman Devineni Uma Maheshwara Rao would be pitted against Nani from Gudivada. Devineni Uma has wide contacts in the constituency and can give Kodali Nani a run for the money. Also, the TDP cadre too appear to be quite enthused by Uma's offer to contest from Gudivada in 2024.
Sources say that Chandrababu feels that the candidate for Gudivada assembly constituency should be announced quite early so that the candidate would get enough time to build rapport in the constituency and emerge as a strong contender. The TDP feels it is important to take on Kodali Nani, who has been winning the constituency for four times in a row.
Kodali Nani too appears to have realised that he would be the prime target of the TDP and that the rival party is focusing on ways and means to defeat him. He also realises that the Amaravati farmers padayatra spent more time in Gudivada than any other constituency so far and that he is their Enemy No 1. Sources say that Nani too has begun working in the constituency to offset the TDP plans.
