Hijab Issue Hits AP yet Again, Second incident reported!
By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Feb 2022 8:36 AM GMTThe controversial and much-talked-about Hijab controversy in Karnataka which is also dubbed as the Karnataka Hijab issue is slowly making its way to other states and regions as well. The list of colleges that are telling students to follow a uniform code is getting bigger and bigger.
As a second incident in Andhra Pradesh, a tense situation aroused in Prakasam district after a high school had reportedly asked a few Muslim students to remove their Hijab or else they cannot enter the campus premises.
The alleged incident went to the notice of a few religious heads who showed up at the campus. They had an argument with the school management and asked why they are not letting the students in and also raised objections to the management following the rule all of a sudden.
It has been widely reported that Muslim women and religious heads reached the High School to protest against the issue. They alleged that there was no such rule before and asked why the management wants to follow the rule now. This had led to a tense situation at Prakasam district as the supporters of Hijab and the management had a war of words.
A similar incident was reported from the temple city Vijayawada earlier. The row happened when a famous private college facility said no to Hijab-clad students. This did not go well with the students and they staged a protest outside the campus. The situation was settled with the management pacifying the students and telling them about the issue and asking them to vacate the place.
The Hijab issue which made the Muslim students knock on the Karnataka High Court and the Supreme Court to get directives that they will be permitted to enter the campus in Hijab had spread to other states and regions like Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh. Two incidents were reported in AP so far.
When a petition was filed in the Supreme Court seeking its intervention in the issue, the Apex Court said that it cannot intervene as the Karnataka High Court is already hearing it. Having said that, the Supreme Court said that it will decide on what to do after the court gives its verdict.
