The Hijab controversy that erupted in Karnataka kickstarted a big political storm. Leaders and activists across the states have been responding to the issue and giving their take on this. Having gone through various twists and turns, the issue made its way to the state High Court already.

As a fresh development in connection with the row, the Muslim students found support in Gandhi scion and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Reacting to the controversy, Priyanka Gandhi gave a swift reaction.

Priyanka Gandhi said that a woman can decide what to wear and the same right is offered by the Indian constitution. Be it a bikini, ghoonghat, or jeans, a woman can decide her preference of dress.

Saying that the Constitution guarantees the right to wear what women like, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had urged everyone to stop harassing women. In her tweet, Priyanka Gandhi said that woman have the right to decide on what she wants to wear.

"Whether it is a bikini, a ghoonghat, a pair of jeans, or a hijab, it is a woman's right to decide what she wants to wear. This right is GUARANTEED by the Indian constitution. Stop harassing women," Priyanka Gandhi said in her tweet.

Having said that, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had used the slogan of Congress for the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh election as the hashtag for her post.

To make sure that it wins the upcoming general elections, the Uttar Pradesh wing of Congress is highlighting the Nari Shakthi. With the slogan Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon, Congress is going ahead for the polls.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had mentioned the #ladkihoonladsaktihoon hashtag in her post.

Looking back at the controversy, the issue took place when a few objections were raised over Muslim students attending the educational institutions in Karnataka.

However, the Muslim female students have been fighting against this saying that it is their right to wear hijab. This did not go well with a few Hindu students. As a bid to show their protest, Hindu students have started wearing saffron shawls to the college. The Hindu students are fighting for the uniform dress code at college.
