The news of the Army chopper crash that claimed 13 lives including Chief of Defence Staff of the Indian Armed Forces Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, and other security personnel is a piece of painful news. The nation mourned the death of the veteran Army man who will enter the history books as the first CDS chief of the country.

Making it even more painful, the sole survivor of the crash, Group Captain Varun Singh who is undergoing treatment for the injuries he sustained in the mishap could not make it and succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.

Group Captain Varun Singh who was rescued by the teams after the crash was rushed to the Command Hospital in Bengaluru and has been undergoing treatment at the hospital facility. Everyone wanted the Group Captain to get recovered and he has been receiving wishes from one and all.

The other day, quoting the authorities at the Command Hospital as saying, media reports emerged that the condition of the Group Captain is still critical, but his condition is stable, which gave a hope that he could make it and come back strongly.

Sadly, it did not happen what everyone wanted and the Group captain breathed his last after getting treated for a few days. With this, all the 14 passengers in the Mi-17V5 helicopter that had crashed near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu have lost their lives.

Sharing the sad news of the 39-year-old Group Captain Varun Singh losing his life, the Indian Air Force(IAF) took to Twitter and offered condolences to the life lost and assured to stand with the bereaved family.

"IAF is deeply saddened to inform the passing away of braveheart Group Captain Varun Singh, who succumbed this morning to the injuries sustained in the helicopter accident on 08 Dec 21. IAF offers sincere condolences and stands firmly with the bereaved family," IAF tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reacted to the sad news and offered his condolences. Talking highly about the services rendered by the officer for the nation, Modi said, his service will not be forgotten.

"Group Captain Varun Singh served the nation with pride, valour and utmost professionalism. I am extremely anguished by his passing away. His rich service to the nation will never be forgotten. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti," Narendra Modi tweeted.
