In First Of Its Kind, Families Supported Same-sex marriage!

The way marriages happen has gone through a lot of changes over the period. In the earlier days, men used to follow Polygamy where they will have multiple life partners. Later the culture was stopped and men are now finding it difficult to find a life partner.

The current trend is that people are marrying life partners of the same sex. Recently, a woman from Gujarat married herself. Marrying herself is called sologamy and what happened in Gujarat is dubbed the first of its case in India. The incident grabbed everyone's attention.

Following the trend of tying the knot with same-sex people, two women entered the marriage institution. While one woman is from Tamil Nadu, her partner is from Bangladesh. Though they hail from different nations, they settled in Canada and met each other there.

Going into details, one Subiksha Subramani, who hails from Tamil Nadu, and Bangladesh-based Tina Das fell for each other and tied the knot. After dating for a few years, they decided to get married. Both families gave their nod for the marriage and the marriage was held in Chennai.

This could be the first same-sex marriage in India where both families accepted the proposal and blessed the couple. Being a conservative society, many families won't accept such families fearing what others and relatives think about the marriage and this would be the main reason behind families saying no.

But the families of the partners did not bother about other things and said yes thinking that their children will be happy. The marriage was held traditionally and only limited guests were invited to the ceremony.

Subiksha Subramani and Tina Das had their stories on realising their sexual orientation. While Subiksha Subramani found out about this when she was a teenager, Tina Das found that she was attracted to women after four years of her marriage.

35-year-old Tina Das was married and after finding out that she is attracted to women, she ended her marriage and went to Canada. Subiksha Subramani was also in Canada. Through an app, the two women met each other and started dating each other.
