Team India had the perfect start to the South Africa series. By winning South Africa's fortress Centurion, India had its eyes on winning the series in proteas, a tough feat that the other teams that visited South Africa could not manage to pull off.

While India made itself ready for the second test with full josh and positivity, the Indian camp faced a sudden blow after skipper Virat Kohli made himself unavailable for the second test just ahead of the match. Stylish batsman KL Rahul will step into the shoes of a skipper in place of Kohli.

Run Machine could not play the second Test due to his back spasm. To fill his place as a player, Telugu cricketer Hanuma Vihari got a call into the final team. KL Rahul will lead the team in Virat Kohli's absence.

With the unavailability of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul stepped on the field as the skipper for the toss. India won the toss and had opted to bat first. India is hoping to take forward the positive start it got in the first test and script a historic series win.

Things are going India's way as India has a good record in the Wanderers Stadium venue where the second Test will be played today.

So far, India had played five matches at Johannesburg and never tasted a loss. Team India had played the Test match at the venue against South Africa back in 1992. With God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar’s heroics with the bat, India had managed to draw the match.

Again in 1997, South Africa and India locked horns for a Test match and the result was a draw. But in the third match, India registered a stunning victory against South Africa. Former Indian player Rahul Dravid who was the captain of the team in 2006 had led his team to a historic win by 123 runs.

Years later, India toured South Africa two more times in 2013 and 2018. While the match played in 2013 was a draw, India defeated South Africa in 2018, making Johannesburg, one of the successful grounds for India overseas.
