Inside story of why PK did not join Congress Party

The how and why of poll wizard Prashant Kishor's aborted attempt to join the Congress Party is slowly emerging now. Sources say that Prashant Kishor tried to join the Congress Party and reform it from within so that it becomes fighting fit to take on the might of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his BJP. But he reportedly found that the Congress was totally unwilling for a reform.
Sources close to PK say that he was shocked by Rahul Gandhi's unwillingness to discuss the issue. Despite having options such as rejecting PK's offer after hearing, Rahul Gandhi chose to skip the meeting. He went on a foreign tour as decided earlier without any concern about the meeting scheduled with PK. This has hurt PK to no end.
It may be recalled that PK had suggested that Rahul Gandhi should make way for Priyanka Gandhi as the party chief to take on Modi and the BJP in 2024. Rahul did not like the idea and simply proceeded on his foreign tour. He also found that several senior Congress leaders too were not happy with the suggestion and opposed PK. All these have reportedly led him to believe that the Congress was not the right place for him, say sources.
Sources also say that PK was not happy to be just a member of the team that was to advise the party leadership. He wanted power to take decisions and implement them too. However, the old guard was not prepared to allow him to have his way. This too has forced his hand, say his associates and friends.
