The Indian Premier League (IPL) was started by the cricket governing body Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which had worked well in giving a boost to the new format, the T 20 format. The tournament's success and brand value are only getting bigger and bigger with each passing year.

Ahead of the start of the 2022 edition of the T20 tournament, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials spoke to the media and they were asked various questions on different topics as far as the Indian Premier League (IPL) is concerned.

Speaking to a leading news outlet, Jay Shah, the serving honorary secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had reportedly said that the revenue that is generated from the sponsorships would cross the thousand crores mark. The amount is for the upcoming season only.

"While a few sponsorship slots were sold already, the sponsorship revenue will cross the 1,000 crore mark for the upcoming season. Since the inception of the tournament, the BCCI did not earn such a big amount and this is the first time that the board will see such a big income", Jay Shah reportedly told the news outlet.

Expressing happiness over the thundering success of IPL, Jay Shah had dubbed the sponsorship revenue as an example of the brand value of the tournament. Calling the sponsorship revenue a record one, Jay Shah called it a good sign of progress for the game.

Having said that, Jay Shah had ruled out the possibilities of any possible irregularities given the abundance of money involved. BCCI will assure complete transparency and the e-auction will be held for the media rights, he reportedly said.

The upcoming season is gearing up to provide wholesome entertainment with two more teams joining the force. Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have made it into the mega auction and formed a team. KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya were selected as the skippers of Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans respectively.

The 2022 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is slated to start on the 26th of this month. In the inaugural match of the tournament, defending champions ChennaiSuper Kings and KKR will lock horns.
