Is Pawan Kalyan a pawn in Chandrababu's hands?

Is TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu using Jana Sena chief and actor Pawan Kalyan as a pawn to further his interest? It appears so. If highly placed sources are to be believed, Pawan's recent Delhi tour was a carefully scripted act aimed at placating the reticent BJP so that a firm anti-YSRCP alliance could be firmed up for the 2024 election.
But the BJP of today is not the BJP of naïve Atal-Advani vintage. Also, it does not have the compulsions that Atal Bihari Vajpayee's BJP suffered. The current day leadership of Modi-Shah combine is not just tough to placate, but is also clever enough to see through Chandrababu Naidu's machinations.
Despite his two-day tour, Pawan Kalyan did not get any assurance from the BJP. Instead, the BJP leadership asked him to work hard so that he could be projected as the chief ministerial candidate in Andhra Pradesh in 2029. Thus, Naidu's plan to used Pawan as a pawn to broker a deal with the BJP has failed.
The BJP leadership is clear in its intention. It does not want to give Chandrababu Naidu a new lease of live at its own expense. It wants to ensure that Chandrababu does not win the 2024 elections so that the TDP will slowly fall apart. When this happens, the BJP can fill the vacuum and emerge as a credible political force.
