Is Srikakulam slipping out of YSRCP hands?
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 Sep 2022 4:54 AM GMTA survey, purportedly done by popular agency People's Pulse, has presented a depressing scenario for the YSRCP in Srikakulam district. The survey has pointed out that if the TDP manages to cobble up an alliance with the Jana Sena and the BJP, it might sweep Srikakulam. The survey says that the YSRCP can repeat the 2019 result if there is no opposition unity.
According to the survey, the YSRCP has 44.50 per cent votes and the TDP has 42.35 per cent. The clear 2 percentage point edge can see through the YSRCP comfortably. But, the Jana Sena has 6.75 percent vote support and the BJP has 1.85per cent votes in Srikakulam district. This means that together, the opposition has more than 50 per cent vote share. Hence if these three parties come together, then the TDP could trounce the YSRCP easily.
The survey claims that the YSRCP is suffering clear anti-incumbency in Narasannapet, Tekkali, Etcherla and Pathapatnam. The survey reportedly suggested that the YSRCP could salvage the situation if it replaced the sitting candidates with new candidates. The survey also pointed out that TDP AP president Atchen Naidu is quite comfortably placed in Tekkali assembly constituency.
However, the survey has some bad news too for the TDP. Winds are blowing against the Telugu Desam Party in Ichchapuram. Similarly, in Palasa, the YSRCP is quite strong. Minister Seediri Appalaraju is going strong, says the survey. In Amadalavalasa, however, speaker Tammineni Sitaram is swimming against the tide.
If the findings of the survey are accurate, then the ruling YSRCP will have to do some serious homework. The party may have to rework its strategies for the all-important North Andhra district. Otherwise the party may lose in a majority of the seats in Srikalulam, says the survey.
