Is TDP fed up with businessmen-politicians?
X
There seems to be a re-think in the Telugu Desam about having businessman-politicians. The party is finding that the industrialists and the business magnates that the party had so assiduously cultivated, are not only highly inactive the moment the party lost power, but are also seen hobnobbing with the YSRCP leaders to further their business interests. Much to the shock of the party, business interests are more important for these fair-weather politicians.

Many of the businessman-politicians have become inactive. But, many more have already struck deals with the YSRCP to further their business interests. A majority of the TDP leaders in Krishna and Guntur districts are industrialists and entrepreneurs. Though they are still in the TDP, they have reportedly struck deals with the YSRCP. This has put the TDP in a spot as these leaders are not serious about protest programmes and the party initiatives.

A key TDP leader is said to have joined hands with a top YSRCP leader and is said to be stopping the party leaders from attacking the YSRCP. Recently, the family members of a prominent TDP leader from Palnadu met at top YSRCP leaders. He has reportedly offered to fight the election as an independent in 2024 to divide the anti-YSRCP votes. The business deal between the TDP leader and the YSRCP leader is said to have fetched Rs 300 crore for them.

The opposition TDP is said to have kept an eye on the dealings of several such leaders who are involved in double-dealing. The TDP is said to be preparing a list of such leaders so that their applications for the party tickets could be rejected during the elections.
