The ruling YSRCP gave a big shock to the Telugu Desam Party by winning the Kuppam Municipality in the recent polls. YCP takes great pride in the election verdict at regular intervals. Forget about others, even Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is also taking big pride and asked the leaders to focus on clean sweeping the elections.
Post the sensational win, Jagan visited Kuppam and promised a bunch of development works. This is seen as another big step to increase the political image of YCP in Kuppam, which has been a stronghold of Telugu Desam Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
But a recent meeting involving Kuppam Municipal Chairman and a few ward members gave birth to a new discussion on whether this is how YCP won the polls. The video is now doing rounds on social media and people are talking about this.
Rangaiah, 16th Ward Councilor Devaki's husband made sensational claims in the video and said he bought each vote in the elections for Rs 5,000. This shows how much money went into the elections now.
Money flows in elections usually and it happens only with MLA and MP polls. But the Kuppam polls proved that even the local body polls can also turn costly. Rs 5000 per vote in the local body is not a small thing. This is the money voters get for big elections. But the YCP reportedly spent the money to get the votes.
