Is this why Pawan, Chandrababu are welcoming BRS in AP?
By: Tupaki Desk | 10 Jan 2023 4:10 AM GMTWhy did both Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan welcome the BRS party's foray into Andhra Pradesh? Why did they say that they are okay with the KCR-led TRS-turned BRS entering Andhra Pradesh politics. Highly placed sources with their ears to the ground claim that these statements are part of a long-term plan with an eye on 2024 elections.
They say that this welcome statement is mainly aimed at preventing the party cadre of both the Jana Sena and the TDP from joining the BRS. In fact, some of the key Jana Sena leaders have already joined the BRS. The current AP chief of the BRS – Thota Chandrasekhar – was a Jana Sena contestant from Eluru and Guntur. Ravela Kishore, who joined the BRS, was a minister in Chandrababu Naidu government of014-2019.
If the Jana Sena and the TDP extend the hand of friendship, it would only mean that there is no point for these leaders to join the BRS.
This is also being seen as an attempt to send a warning to the BJP. While Pawan Kalyan is trying to rope in the BJP into an alliance with Chandrababu Naidu's TDP, the BJP is wary of joining hands with the TDP. So, both the parties are trying to put pressure on the BJP by indicating that they would join hands with the BRS if necessary.
More importantly, both Pawan Kalyan and Chandrababu Naidu feel that if they extend an olive branch to the BRS, it will make KCR look for candidates from the ruling YSRCP. There are several disgruntled leaders in the YSRCP who are looking for an outlet to vent their anger at Jagan. These leaders might join the BRS. This will only weaken the YSRCP, feel Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan. This explains why both the leaders are welcoming the BRS.
