The TDP's comeback plans in Andhra Pradesh appear to be hit by intense groupism within. The party leadership is worried at the growing bickering in the party with rival groups trying to outdo each other. One such problem area for the TDP boss is the all-important Udayagiri assembly constituency in the undivided Nellore district.
Chandrababu Naidu has appointed Bollineni Rama Rao as the constituency incharge for Udayagiri. However, Bollineni has been inactive for quite some time. He has not organised any major programmes in the constituency during the last few years. The biggest complaint against him is that he is out of the constituency most of the time due to his business commitments.
Of late, Kakarla Suresh has become quite active in the constituency. He has formed a trust after his surname and has taken up social welfare programmes on a big scale. During the recent visit of Chandrababu, he had inserted huge advertisements in the media. The clear signal is that he is ready to contest the election if the party gives him the ticket.
This has created a rift within the Telugu Desam. The party has got divided into two groups – one supporting Suresh and the other owing allegiance to Rama Rao. So, it has become Bollineni vs Kakarla in Udayagiri assembly constituency. As of now, Chandrababu Naidu has not revealed his mind. As a result, both the groups are trying to outdo the other.
