The ruling TRS seems to believe that family rule is the best rule. So, most of the VIPs like MLAs and MPs are now making their family members run for the corporator elections. Thus the power gets confined to the family.
Take for instance, Uppal MLA Beti Subhash Reddy. His wife Swapna is contesting from Habsiguda for the second time. She is a sitting corporator. Similarly, Contonment MLA G Sayanna's daughter Lasya is contesting from Adikmet division. Mayor Bonthu Rammohan's wife Sridevi is contesting from Charlapalli division. Senior leader K Keshava Rao's daughter Vijayalakshmi, who represents Banjara Hills division, is contesting again this time.
Similarly, former Mayor Teegala Krishna Reddy's close relative Susarita is contesting from Musarambagh, while former MLA Kanaka Reddy's daughter-in-law Vijayasanthi is contesting from Alwal. Former Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy's son-in-law Srinivas Reddy is contesting from Ramnagar. The case of Qutbullahpur MLA Vivekanand is even more interesting. His two close relatives Parijata and Padma have been repeated in both Qutbullahpur and Jeedimetla respectively. They are both sitting corporators. In Madhapur and Hafizpet, husband-wife team of Jagadishwar Goud and Pujita are contesting.
