Jagan plans to tour Chandrababu's Kuppam next week

As part of the efforts aimed at firming up the party's position, YSRCP chief and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning to tour Kuppam constituency again. He is planning to visit the constituency that till now has been the fiefdom of the TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu. It may be recalled that Kuppam is one of the only two assembly constituencies, whose review Jagan himself did.
Jagan is set to launch developmental works worth Rs 60 crore in Kuppam. Kuppam has been Chandrababu Naidu's borough. He has been winning the elections from Kuppam since 1985 and has not tasted defeat so far. However, in the 2019 elections, the victory margin was the lowest and Chandrababu Naidu trailed behind the YSRCP for two rounds.
In the recent municipal elections, Kuppam passed into the hands of the YSRCP. Since then, the YSRCP began targeting the constituency. It wants to win this seat in 2024 and put an end to Chandrababu Naidu's uninterrupted reign. Hence Jagan is touring Kuppam within a week.
The TDP on the other hand is accusing the YSRCP of letting loose a reign of terror. It claimed that as many as 60 TDP leaders were put in jail with no possibility of a bail provision. With all these leaders under arrest, Jagan will have no opposition to his tour of Kuppam. They said that Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy was personally directing the police to arrest the TDP leaders. The TDP said that they would oppose the YSRCP tooth and nail despite the crackdown.
