Khammam Kamma Sangham Elections: Tummala, Puvvada fight proxy battle
X
The attack on Khammam district Kamma Mahajana Sangham president Yerneni Rama Rao is now making news not just in Khammam but in both the Telugu states. The Kamma community is hotly debating this issue. Those in the know say that Yerneni Rama Rao is only a pretext, but the real fight is between former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and current minister Ajay Puvvada.

It may be recalled that Yerneni Rama Rao had not just contested despite opposition from Minister Puvvada Ajay but also won the election. He was attacked by a group of people while he was in the Kamma Mahajana Sangham office the other day. Rama Rao blamed Ajay Puvvada for the attack on him.

Though Rama Rao is a BJP leader in Khammam, he is also well-known as the points-man of Tummala Nageswara Rao. Sources say that Tummala fully backed him in the Kamma Mahajana Sangham elections. Thus, he managed to defeat Puvvada’s panel to prove that he still calls the shots in the Kamma community in Khammam district. Though both are in the same party, both Tummala and Puvvada have been at loggerheads for quite some time.

Meanwhile, Puvvada formed a rival association called Kamma Sangham in Khammam to counter the influence of Kamma Mahajana Sangham. He is said to have given a huge sum as donation to the rival association. Yet, he wanted to prove a point and put up a panel in the Kamma Mahajana Sangham. However, his panel has been routed completely. The attack is said to be in retaliation to the electoral rout. As of now Rama Rao is said to be out of danger.
