Layoffs Scare: Even Company President Is Not Safe!
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 March 2023 8:14 PM ISTThings are not going well for the employees working for various companies across sectors. Irrespective of their positions they are being sacked. Despite giving their best in their jobs, the employers are going for layoffs resulting in the employees losing their jobs.
Companies in India and abroad are doing the same. In January alone, thousands of employees were removed by their respective employers. Earlier only the small employees used to face the wrath of layoff exercise. But now the trend is that even people holding big positions are not safe.
Proving this, the President of the Zoom app Greg Tomb was reportedly sacked from his position. However, it is said that no reason was mentioned while removing him from the presidential position. As no reasons were mentioned in his firing, the President might get some benefits following the guidelines of Zoom company.
Greg Tomb took over the President post of the Video conferencing platform Zoom in 2020 and held the position for over two years. During his stint, he gave his best in increasing the wealth and worth of the company. However, this did not make him not lose his job.
It is known that Zoom announced that 1,300 employees will be sacked in a bid to deal with the cost-cutting and make the workforce short and crisp. A month after doing that, the company sacked the President as well. However, no reason is mentioned for sacking him.
The Covid pandemic gave a big platform for the Zoom company for its business. With everything coming to a standstill, employees, students and everyone used the platform for business. As the students were also taught online classes, Zoom came in handy for everyone.
But the rise of Zoom did not last for more than two years as things started coming to normal. With this, the number of people who use the app has come down and this forced the company to work on cost cuttings. Following this, the company management started removing the employees. After around 1300 employees were sacked, President Greg Tomb was sacked. However, it is said that no person would be hired in the position next.
