Legislators passing sexist comments is not new. One wonders why the legislators often kickstart controversy by making objectionable comments and realise their mistake and then issue an apology. We have seen a lot of such incidents in the recent past. Another legislator made such controversial comments and faced the heat of the comments.

Karnataka Congress leader KR Ramesh who is an MLA made objectionable comments while addressing the house the other day and said, when rape is inevitable, just enjoy it by lying down. His comments went viral within a short time and he is facing the heat of the comments he made.

After a few activists and MLAs of the Congress party are targeting him over the objectionable comments he made and demanding him to issue an apology, the senior MLA had bowed down to the criticism and issued an apology.

Severely objecting to the comments made by the Congress MLA, fellow Congress legislator Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar raised a demand that not just the MLA but also the House should issue an apology for the shameless behavior in the house.

"The House shall apologise to entire womanhood, every mother, sister & daughter of this nation for such an obnoxious & shameless behaviour," the tweet reads.

The MLA who is being heavily criticised over his comments had decided to put an end to the issue and addressed the House on Friday and issued an apology. The MLA said he is accepting the mistake he made while addressing the house.

He said that he did not mean to insult women or to support the crime. Though my intentions behind passing the comments were different, I am apologising unconditionally without any second thought. My background is a humble one, he said.

The time the MLA made the comments has no relation to women or crime. When the House was discussing the severe damages caused by the heavy downpours and severe floods, the MLA made the comments.

This is not the first time the MLA made such an objectionable comment. Back in February 2019, he attracted criticism by comparing his situation to that of a rape victim. Shockingly, he was serving as a Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
