North Andhra Ministers decide to organise counter yatra for Vizag as capital
By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Oct 2022 7:40 AM GMTit is now becoming increasingly clear that the ruling YSRCP is not going to let go of the Amaravati farmers yatra this time. Last time, when the yatra was taken out to Tirupati, the party largely ignored it and there was a semblance of opposition only in Tirupati and Kurnool. But, this time around the party is planning to oppose it tooth and nail.
The ministers are now preparing to lead the protest rallies against the pro-Amaravati yatra. As the yatra is set to enter into Visakhapatnam soon, the ministers are now planning to raise the demand for Vizag to be made as the executive capital. A meeting of the ministers, including Botsa Satyanarayana, Gudivada Amarnath, Karumuri Nageswara Rao and others led by Dharmana Prasada Rao has decided to launch a rival padayatra.
The ministers felt that there is an urgent need to explain the need for Vizag to be made as the capital to the people of the North Andhra region. They fully backed the proposal put forth by Dharmana Prasad Rao and said they would reach out to the people and create awareness about the need for three capitals.
There was a proposal to launch a similar padayatras in the Rayalaseema region too. However, there was disagreement as far as the timing of the yatra was concerned. There were also questions about what would happen to the general administration and governance if all the ministers joined the yatra at the same time. The ministers decided to hold another meeting as quickly as possible.
