In an unwanted development, the Coronavirus infections triggered by the Omicron variant are increasing in Telangana. After fresh cases were detected, the Omicron case count rose to nine in the state, leaving the people in the state to worry as if the new variant could lead to another wave of the pandemic.

Amidst the tense situation, Telangana Health Director Dr. G Srinivas Rao addressed the media over the Omicron scare and provided details on the infections. The Director said the nine infections include eight people who entered the state from other nations while the other person belongs to West Bengal.

The Health Director said, not taking the vaccine dose is one of the reasons behind Omicron getting spread. He urged everyone to undergo Covid tests if they develop symptoms like fever, headache, body pains, and cough.

Adding further, the Telangana Health Director advised that people should wear masks even in their houses for a few weeks as a precautionary measure. For a free ventilator of air, the doors and windows should be opened for fresh air. No need to worry. No restrictions like lockdowns will be imposed in the state, he said.

Highlighting the importance of taking the anti-Covid doses, the Health Director urged the beneficiaries to show up at the vaccination centers and take the vaccine doses. He also quoted the example of the United Kingdom and said those who have not taken the doses have a serious condition in the United Kingdom. Talking about the non-takers of the Covid vaccine doses, the director said, around 28 lakh people are yet to take the second dose of the vaccine.

The Omicron cases jumped at once after four people were found positive for the Omicron variant of the virus. Out of the four newly detected infections, three people recently returned from Kenya, while the other person is an Indian national.

On the other hand, Omicron infections are slowly increasing in other states. States like Karnataka, Gujarat, and Maharashtra are seeing fresh cases. Maharashtra tops the list of the states that have the highest number of Omicron cases. India's Omicron toll had already crossed the 50-mark.
