Privatisation: Airport In Temple City The Next Target!

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre is on a spree of privatizing assets and public entities. It is saying that the money that comes from this will be used to develop the infrastructure. Iconic entities are also being privatised. Be it ports, Airports, or others the assets are privatised.
The Union government listed the famous Vizag Steel Plant for privatization earlier. Protests are underway to stop this. But the government is not ready to listen to this and is going forward. It is saying that the Vizag Steel plant is in losses and this is the reason for the privatization.
Now the Centre is going to privatize a profitable airport and no one understands the need for this. Recently, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, V.K. Singh said that Vijayawada, Tirupati, and Rajamahendravaram airports will be privatized. Compared to others, Tirupati airport is seeing good profits.
For the Vizag Steel plant, the Centre said that to reduce the burden of failed entities, it is privatizing the assets. But the Tirupati airport is seeing profits and it is said that every year it adds Rs 200 crores profits. People want to know the reason behind this. If losses are the reason behind the privatization, then the Tirupati airport should not be privatized.
Reports say that three companies are in the race for this tender and Reliance is among them. If we have to take anything from the reports then the Reliance company might get the offer. Once the company gets the airport it might expand it by adding more facilities.
Temple city Tirupati is one of the major temples in the country and devotees come in large numbers daily. The flight frequency is also good and international flights also land here. It is like a jackpot to get the airport that has many resources and a big scope. There are flights to other metro cities from Tirupati which is a big advantage.
As the summer season started the devotees' rush will increase now. Amid this, the debate had started that Reliance is likely to get tender. The BJP is facing allegations of favoring a few business tycoons. It appears that it is going to do the same.
