Regional News Channel In India Gets AI-Powered Presenter!

Artificial intelligence is a current phenomenon. After its inception, it is making wonders leaving everyone surprised about what it can do. The potential of the technology is such that there are also a few fears that it would replace people in a few jobs.
Now India has its first AI-generated news anchor. A regional news channel scripted history by launching the first AI anchor in regional space. The anchor wore a traditional saree. The anchor can present news in English and Odia. Earlier, Aaj Tak Media had an AI news presenter.
OTV, which operates from Odisha launched an AI anchor that presents news in the local language Odia and English. The videos of the same are now on social media. The AI anchor can speak many languages. But it only presents news in the two languages. The management of the news channel said that the anchor would become proficient in the language soon. The anchor was named Lisa.
In a release, the news channel said that the AI anchor can speak many languages. However, the anchor will present news in Odia and English. Having said that, the news channel also said that in the coming days, they would make her proficient in the language.
"Efforts are underway to make Lisa more proficient in Odia in the coming days. You can find and follow Lisa on all the prominent social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, among others," the news channel said.
Though the Odia news channel became the first news channel in the regional channels in the country to have an AI- anchor, this is not the first time in the world. Earlier, a news channel in Kuwait launched an AI-powered news reader. What the Kuwait media house did had surprised the entire world.
