Round 2 goes to BJP: Relief for Santosh, pain for Kavitha?
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Dec 2022 7:00 AM GMTThe ACB court's refusal to allow the inclusion of BJP's honcho BL Santosh Kumar in the cash for defection case has come as a major shock and setback to the ruling TRS in Telangana. The court rejected the Telangana Government's SIT's claim that BL Santosh Kumar's name should also be included in the FIR.
The court said that there is no option to include others in the FIR and thus the request to include his name was not valid. This has come as a breather for the BJP and has exposed that the TRS government's attempts to include Santhosh Kumar's name is deliberate and wrong. This is being seen as a shot in the arm for the BJP.
The BJP is also confident that the case would not stand the legal scrutiny and the attempts to involve the party will fall flat. The court also pointed out that since there was no cash transaction involved for 'purchasing' the loyalty of the TRS MLAs. What left the SIT shell-shocked is the court's ruling that the SIT has no jurisdiction in the case.
This has come as a big boost for the BJP. On one hand, the case against KCR's daughter Kalwakuntla Kavitha has only gotten stronger. On the other hand, the case against Santosh has now been declared infructuous. The BJP now feels that it can go hammer and tongs against the TRS in the Delhi liquor case.
