The Telangana wing of Congress took a strong objection to the recent Sarpanches controversy where the money deposited in their accounts was reportedly diverted. The party has been raising its support for the Sarpanches. As another bid to support them, the party gave a call to protest.

The protest was planned by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth A Reddy. However, he was house arrested when he was about to come out of his house to go to the spot where the protest was planned. Not just Revanth, but a few other leaders were also house arrested.

While the Congress planned protests the Police Department reportedly said no to the permission for the protest and the Congress leaders like A. Revanth Reddy, vice-president Mallu Ravi and others were placed under house arrest as a precautionary measure.

Increasing the political heat, the Telangana Congress chief was arrested by the cops. When he came out of his house to reach the protest site he was detained by the cops. He had an argument with the cops and asked how come they arrested him. Revanth asked if there is no freedom to protest in the state.

After coming out of his house he had a war of words with the cops. Amid a tense situation, he was arrested and then shifted to a nearby police station. While being taken to Police Station Revanth Reddy asked what is the reason behind arresting him.

The grand old Congress party planned a big protest at the Iconic Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad to stand in solidarity with the Sarpanches and demand to address the issues they are facing. But the Congress leaders like Revanth Reddy and others were arrested.

As the Telangana wing of Congress gave a call for the protest the Police department deployed personnel at the houses of key leaders and placed them under house arrest.

Alleging that the State government is behind the diversion of funds the Congress party stood in solidarity with the Sarpanches to fight their issues. The funds which are meant to be used for development works were diverted, the Congress party alleged.
