A tragedy hit the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh as a senior party leader who earlier served as the MLA breathed his last. He is said to have suffered a heart attack last night and was taken to a hospital. Sadly the treatment could not save him and passed away undergoing treatment.

Senior YCP leader Pathapati Sarraju, ex-MLA from Undi in West Godavari attended a marriage function in Bhimavaram on Friday night. After attending the event and blessing the newlywed, he went to his house.

The former MLA allegedly suffered a heart attack at his house and his family members rushed him to a nearby hospital in Bhimavaram for treatment. He underwent treatment at the hospital and breathed his last undergoing treatment. His family members announced the sad news with a lot of pain.

The YSRCP leaders are mourning his death and sending condolence messages to the family members. Pathapati Sarraju is survived by a wife and two sons. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy condoled his death and sent his condolences to his family members.

Pathapati Sarraju was born in 1954 in Jakkavaram. His education stopped after the fifth. In the details he mentioned in polls, he said that he finished the fifth standard. His political career started with the grand old Congress in the combined state.

He won the elections from the Undi Assembly constituency in 2004 and served as the MLA. But he could not continue the winning streak in the next elections and lost the 2009 elections. He joined the YSRCP after the state was bifurcated and contested the elections on a party ticket in 2014. However, he lost the elections.

Pathapati Sarraju was not given the party ticket in the 2019 elections in which the YSRCP recorded a landslide victory and crushed the grand old Telugu Desam Party. However, he was made the Chairman of the Ap Kshatriya Corporation.

He took charge as the Ap Kshatriya Corporation Chairman in 2021 and has been rendering his services in the position since then. He was also made the in-charge of the party in the constituency. At the age of 72, the former MLA passed away.
