Shiv Sena to Fight Shinde, Rebels Till Last Chance?
By: Tupaki Desk | 1 July 2022 10:46 AM GMTThe Shiv Sena party which had sensed the revolt from the rebel MLAs tried its best till the last moment to not lose power. However, it could not as the rebel MLAs took the side of the Bharatiya Janata Party which has the strength of 100 MLAs in the state assembly.
After the new government was formed the other day, the Shiv Sena party had knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court requesting the Apex Court to hear the petition and other disqualification petitions filed against Eknath Shinde and other rebels on an urgent basis.
But the Supreme Court said, there is no urgency in hearing the petition and it will hear the issue on the 11th of this month. However, the Supreme Court said that it is aware of what is happening in the state and it is observing everything. Shiv Sena chief whip Sunil Prabhu filed the petition and senior advocate Kapil Sibal represented him in the court.
Shiv Sena which was stunned by the rebels has been dubbing the entire episode as the betrayal and backstabbing of its own leaders. Shiv Sena was started without any political ambitions by Balasaheb Thackeray and changed its ideology after Uddhav took over the party. As a result, Shiv Sena ventured into electoral politics and joined hands with Congress for the Chief Minister post despite ideological differences.
The Shiv Sena party is not losing hope in getting orders to declare Eknath Shinde( Newly sworn-in Chief Minister) and other rebels disqualified and filed the petition. It is trying till the very last chance. However, no one can say whether Shiv Sena can win the battle or not.
Till the time the Supreme Court hears the next hearing, the Shiv Sena and other parties in the alliance government are expected to chalk out plans on how to take on the rebel leaders who backstabbed the party that encouraged and groomed them as leaders.
The Bharatiya Janata Party hit the bull’s eye by hurting the Shiv Sena where it hurts the most. If Uddhav Thackeray had not stayed adamant about the Chief Minister's post, the three-decades-long friendship would have not been broken between the two pro-Hindu parties.
