TDP Wants To Get Strong in Telangana Again?

Telugu Desam Party had a big legacy in combined Andhra Pradesh and the party shares a good bonding with Hyderabad. When Chandrababu Naidu was the Chief Minister, he focused on pearl city more. Be it the IT push or big investments Hyderabad was focused. Even the popular Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad was started when he was the CM.

However, the fate of the grand old party changed after the state bifurcation. Telugu Desam Party shifted its complete focus to divided Andhra Pradesh post-2014. On top of this, the alleged vote-for-note scam also stopped the party from focusing on Hyderabad allegedly.

But the party is focusing on Hyderabad now. As the TRS is focusing on national politics, the opposition parties are unable to cash the anti-incumbency in the state. Though Congress and BJP are the opposition parties, they are not strong enough to go face-to-face with the TRS.

When the TDP and other parties formed a big alliance before the 2018 polls, KCR raised the Andhra-Telangana issue again and saw a positive outcome in the polls by winning the general elections. The same will not be the case now.

If the TRS now BRS leaders raise the same issue the TDP can ask how the BRS can focus on other states and the others cannot do the same with Pakistan. TRS becoming BRS pawed a big way for the TDP into the state.

Moreover, Telugu Desam Party still has a good vote bank in areas where the Andhra people stay. If the vote bank can be activated then TDP can win some seats. If the party can manage to get strong then the leaders from other parties might join the outfit.

Besides the Andhra people, Kammas are also in a strong position in the state and they can be a deciding factor. In areas like Kukatpally and adjacent places, TDP can be a big player.

The Telugu Desam Party announced that a big event will be held on the 21st of this month. Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu will be addressing the gathering on the day. TDP supporters and sympathisers are expected to be present in big numbers.
