Is senior politician and former minister Jupalli Krishna Rao planning to quit the ruling TRS? Sources say that the big leader from Kollapur in erstwhile Mahabubnagar district is feeling that the TRS is not giving him any importance whatsoever and feels that any further continuance in the party is a waste of time and energy for him as the party could ignore his claims for an MLA ticket.

Till he was in the Congress, he was the unquestioned king of Kollapur region. He went on to become a minister and his power has only grown exponentially ever since. But soon after YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s demise, he resigned from his ministry and also his MLA post to join the TRS. For some time, he was considered closest to KCR.

However, things changed after 2019, when he lost the election from Kollapur to Congress candidate B Harshavardhan Reddy. Reddy later joined the TRS and soon acquired complete control over the party relegating Jupalli to the margins. Though Jupally rebelled against this and showed his strength by winning a considerable number of wards in the civic body elections, KTR did not forgive him and his rehabilitation became almost impossible.

Sources say that he has got an invitation from the BJP and could soon join the party. However, by joining the BjP, he could risk losing the support of Muslim votes. He also has another problem. He is at loggerheads with DK Aruna from his Congress days. Once he joins the BJP, he will have to work under her as she is the party vice-president. So, the Congress too is trying to entice him. It remains to be seen which party he would join. Sources say he cannot delay any further and will have to take a decision at the earliest. Let’s wait and see how things unfold.
