TRS begins talking to unhappy dissidents, old-timers, loyalists
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Feb 2022 8:35 AM GMTThe ruling TRS, which is eyeing a third term in office, has begun preparing for the elections in 2018. The party leadership, which has realised that the rank and file of the party, especially those who have been with the party from the beginning, are unhappy, is trying to mollify them. It has begun plans to talk to them.
A plan of action has been drawn up hold discussions with the disgruntled elements in the party. After TRS came to power in 2014, many leaders from other parties, including the Congress, TDP and the BjP have joined the party. Soon, they began eating the cake leaving practically nothing but wrappers for the loyal party men. After they won in 2019, they began marginalising the party's loyal workers.
As a result, many loyalists left the party and many others became inactive. Several others have been waiting for nominated posts. Also, at various levels, there is intense groupism between defeated party MLAs and those who joined from other parties. Latest survey reports have indicated that these dissidents could play a decisive role at the time of the elections and might work to defeat the new entrants into the party.
Senior ministers and party leaders like Yerrabelli Dayakar Rao, Puvvada Nageswara Rao and MP Nama Nageswara Rao have been given the responsibility to talk to these dissident leaders and convince them that they would be suitably rewarded by KCR. Sources say that already efforts are on to keep former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy in TRS. Similar efforts are on in other districts also.
