TS: Municipal Body Member sexually assaults a minor, on run!

No matter how strong the laws in the country are, the assaults and attacks on women and girls continue to rise. The official stats say that one sexual assault incident is reported every 16 minutes, which is very horrifying. On top of this, several incidents go unnoticed.
Another horrific incident where a municipal body vice-chairman is said to have sexually harassed a minor girl. The incident was reported from Telangana and after the issue came to light, the vice-chairman was booked by the cops.
According to the media reports, the Municipal Council vice-chairman reportedly belongs to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party. When the issue was exposed, the accused reportedly went missing and the cops are after him to apprehend him.
It is also said that the incident happened last month, but came to light lately. The victim is just 15 years old and the accused got support from a woman who helped the Municipal Chairman to take the victim to the state capital Hyderabad.
When the victim told her parents what happened, they did not waste any time and reached out to the child helpline. Following the standard procedure, the victim was sent to the medical examination. The test reports reportedly confirm the assault and based on the same a case under Indian Penal Code Section 376 and Pocso act has been filed.
With the accused missing, the Police Department had constituted special teams to nab the accused. The teams were sent to different locations. More details on the developments in the case are awaited.
