Vangalapudi Anitha: All dressed up and nowhere to go?
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 Oct 2022 1:46 PM GMTTelugu Mahila president and former MLA Vangalapudi Anitha is finding her political career at crossroads. Despite being quite active in attacking the YSRCP day in and day out, she is finding that her political career is progressing in one-step-forward and two-steps-backwards mode. Though she has been trying hard to come back to Payakaraopet constituency and contest elections from there in 2014, the cadre seems to be totally opposed to her.
Vangalapudi Anitha, who was a college lecturer, entered politics and caught Chandrababu Naidu's attention. He gave her party ticket to contest from Payakaraopet in Vizag district. She won the 2014 elections. But, by the time the 2019 elections came, she became quite unpopular in Payakaraopet. The situation has come to such a pass that even the TDP workers and hardcore supporters wanted her to be shifted to some other constituency.
As a result, Chandrababu shifted her to Kovvur assembly constituency under Rajahmundry Lok Sabha constituency. She was pitted against Thaneti Vanitha and lost badly. Since then, Anitha has been trying hard to come back to her home turf Payakaraopet. But the party workers in the constituency have been strongly opposing her.
As a result, Anitha is said to be in a dilemma. She does not know which constituency to concentrate on. In Kovvur constituency, former minister KS Jawahar has become quite active. This only means that he would edge her out from the constituency. With Kovvur gone, she may have to focus on Payakaraopet. But, she is not exactly being welcomed there. Thus, she is finding her political career at a crossroads, not knowing where to go.
