was this PK's proposal on Telangana that the Congress rejected outright?
By: Tupaki Desk | 30 April 2022 5:58 AM GMTWhy did Prashant Kishore's attempt to join the Congress and his plans to bring the TRS and Congress fall through? If the buzz we are hearing is true, then the offer that KCR had put forward before the Congress top leadership and the gusto with which PK supported it made the Congress high command sit up and get alerted.
If sources are to be believed, KCR offered 30 assembly seats and four MP seats to the Congress Party. As if this was not enough, he even put a condition that Revanth Reddy should be removed from the Telangana Congress Party president's post. He wanted trouble-makers like Revanth Reddy out of his way. KCR has reportedly suggested that KTR would be the chief minister in a Congress-TRS alliance.
When these proposals were placed before the Congress high command, it was reportedly shocked. It felt KCR's demands were not just outlandish, but also outrageous. It found that this proposal was nothing short of the complete sell-out and that the Congress would never be able to stand on its feet again. As a result, the Congress rejected them and then got tough with PK too.
This decision was a huge relief to the Telangana Congress and its chief Revanth Reddy, whose main plank is anti-KCR and anti-TRS approach. Now that the agreement fell through, the Congress in Telangana can fully focus on the development of the party organisation in the state and on preparing the cadre to fight the TRS in the 2024 elections.
