Why Are You Worried About Modi's Degree: Court Shocks Delhi CM!

Gujarat High Court shocked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by asking Why are you concerned about PM Narendra Modi's degree? Not just that the High Court also slapped him with a fine of Rs 25,000 for hurting the personal dignity of Modi. This came as a big shock to Kejriwal. The Gujarat High Court gave key orders in Modi's Degree and PG certificates row. The High Court set out the Central Information Commission (CIC) directing the Gujarat University to furnish Modi's Degree certificate. Petitioner Kejriwal was slapped with a Rs 25,000 fine.
In April 2016, Arvind Kejriwal had written to the Central Information Commission (CIC) Chairman. In the letter, he sought the details of Modi under the RTI. He questioned why the Commission is not revealing the education details of Modi when he has no issues to reveal the government records.M.Sridhar Acharyulu the then Chairman issued orders to Gujarat University and Delhi University.
However, Gujarat University raised severe objections to this. It even approached the High Court. Hearing the case, the High Court stayed the orders issued by the Central Information Commission. A fine was also imposed on Kejriwal. Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta appeared for the Gujarat University. Saying that there is no need to hide the details, he said the educational qualifications of Modi are in the public domain and University Website.
Tushar Mehta told the court that nothing will happen if Modi's education qualification is made public as the person holding a big position in a democracy is a Doctorate or illiterate. He also said that it is a violation of the personal privacy of the Prime Minister and there is no need to answer over the irresponsible enthusiasm of a person.
