Why is the man in the green cap meeting KCR?
By: Tupaki Desk | 27 Aug 2022 4:20 AM GMTAll eyes are on a special guest who is landing in Hyderabad on Saturday. He will meet Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and hold discussions with him on farmer-related issues. No marks for guessing who he is. He is Bharatiya Kisan Union leader and Jat luminary from Western Uttar Pradesh Rakesh Tikait. The two will hold a meeting at the Pragathi Bhavan on Saturday.
That KCR has been courting Rakesh Tikait for quite some time is an open secret. KCR feels that he is an important cog in the wheel of his national political ambitions. KCR wants to storm into the national political scene with farmer's issues, which he strongly feels will be Narendra Modi's nemesis.
KCR met Tikait first on March 3 during his Delhi tour. He discussed several issues concerning the farm sector. The meeting went on for a marathon three hours and both had announced that they would form a national farmer's agenda. On April 11, when KCR held a dharna at New Delhi on the issue of paddy procurement, Tikait was the only guest from the national level. There was a third meeting on July 9 at Pragathi Bhavan. Both sat for hours and prepared a common agenda.
So, Tikait's arrival to Hyderabad and his meeting with KCR assume great significance especially at a time when the BJP is on the rise in Telagnana. Will they form a farmers' agenda and defat the BJP's belligerence? Why is Tikait in Hyderabad especially on a day when the BJP is organizing a massive rally in Warangal as part of the Praja Sangrama Yatra and BJP national president JP Nadda is going to address it?
