Why is TRS afraid of chapati roller, tractor, road roller and lorry?

A panicky TRS is pulling all stops to ensure that nothing goes wrong in Munugode bypoll. Already beaten twice by the BJP in Dubbak and Huzurabad bypolls, the party is hell-bent on not losing the third bypoll in a row. Hence, every effort is being made to ensure that there is no cross voting or wrong voting. The party wants to ensure that not a single vote of the TRS goes to symbols that have similarity to the party symbol of car.

The TRS has already approached the election commission not to allocate symbols like camera, chapati roller, road roller, lorry, truck, television and even sewing machine to any independent. The TRS argued that these symbols, which have even remotest resemblance to the car symbol, could confuse the illiterate voters or senior citizens and thus the votes intended for TRS might go into others’ kitties.

Finding that the election commission was not responding, the TRS has even approached Telangana High Court. On Saturday, a house motion petition was filed. On the advice of the high court, a lunch motion petition is likely to be filed on Monday. The TRS feels that it had lost some of the bypolls and even the municipal elections because of the symbols that bear resemblance to the car symbol.

Meanwhile, the TRS is trying to win back all the sarpanches, ward members, MPTC and ZPTC members who have gone to the BJP. It is said to have offered huge sums to these leaders to make them come back to the TRS. In addition, liquor parties with non-vegetarian dinners are said to be organised in different parts of the constituency.
