Why Mekapati Rajamohan is unhappy with Atmakur election result?
By: Tupaki Desk | 27 Jun 2022 6:06 AM GMTSenior YSRCP leader and Mekapati family patriarch Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, it appears, is unhappy with the majority that his son Vikram Reddy got in the Atmakur byelections. While Vikram Reddy won by a whopping 82000 votes over the BJP and the whole election was a no contest, Mekapati is unhappy that the majority did not cross the one lakh mark.
The YSRCP had worked very hard to secure over one lakh majority. The polling percentage was down by over 25 per cent and the BJP was in no position to put up a fight against the immensely popular Mekapati family. Yet, the majority fell short by over 18000. Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy pointed this out and said that the party has a huge task on hand.
He said that the party may not be able to repeat this result in 2024 and felt that the cadre should work extremely hard to ensure a victory in the 2024 elections. He said that while there was no doubt that the YSRCP would romp home to power, winning by a handsome margin was important. He called upon the party workers to strive hard to ensure a massive victory for the party in the 2024 elections.
The bypoll was necessitated due to the sudden demise of Industries Minister Mekapati Gautham Reddy. The YSRCP has put up Mekapati Gautham Reddy’s brother and realtor Mekapati Vikram Reddy as the party candidate. Except the BJP, no major party had put up a candidate in the bypoll.
