Will KCR give MLA seat to CPI early next year?
By: Tupaki Desk | 18 Nov 2022 5:02 AM GMTCrafty KCR, it appears, is getting ready to throw 'crumbs' to the CPI so that it enters into an alliance with the TRS. If highly placed sources are to be believed, KCR is reportedly planning to give one MLC seat to the CPI. CPI leader Chada Venkat Reddy would be made an MLC and in return, the CPI would enter into an alliance with the ruling TRS.
Next year, as many as six seats are falling vacant in the legislative council. While three will be in the MLC quota and one in the teachers' quota, the remaining two are in the Governor's quota. The TRS boss is planning to allocate one seat to the CPI in the MLC quota. The seat is likely to be given to Chada Venkat Reddy.
The CPI wanted Husnabad MLA seat in the 2023 elections. This seat has been a traditional CPI stronghold. Chada Venkat Reddy had won in 2004 and stood second in the 2018 elections. Hence, the CPI feels this seat should belong to it. However, the TRS, which is currently holding the seat, is not willing to forgo this for the CPI as it has won both in 2014 and 2018. In fact, its vote share has gone up by an impressive 7.65 per cent in 2018 Hence, KCR is said to have planned to offer an MLC seat to the Left party.
The CPI and the CPM have a considerable number of votes in several constituencies of Nalgonda, Khammam and Karimnagar. In the just concluded Munugode bypoll too, it is the votes of both the CPI and the CPM that tilted the scales in favour of the TRS candidate . KCR feels that an alliance with the CPI and the CPM is to his advantage.
