Why is the Yellow Media upset with Nitish Kumar?
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 Aug 2022 5:34 AM GMTThe happiness and euphoria of the Yellow Media has vanished in no time. No⦠It's neither Modi nor YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who are responsible for wiping out the smiles from the faces of pro-TDP yellow media. It's Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, who did this. One single action of Nitish Kumar has brought tears to the eyes of the Yellow Media.
When Nitish Kumar broke the alliance with the BJP in Bihar and joined hands with the Rashtriya Janata Dal, the equations in Rajya Sabha have suddenly changed. The BJP and its allies had 115 seats in the Rajya Sabha and were just short of the absolute majority of 121 by six more seats, which they were hoping to get very soon.
However, the Janata Dal United of Nitish Kumar is now out of the NDA. As a result, the five JDU members will sit in the opposition and will not vote with the BJP. So, the number of NDA votes has come down to 110 from 115. So, the BJP now needs at least 11 more votes to get the bills passed in the Rajya Sabha. This means its dependence on the YSRCP has gone up.
This is bad news for the TDP, which has but one seat in the Rajya sabha and cannot help the BJP in any which way. The BJP will have to good-humor the YSRCP for the required votes. So, despite Chandrababu having a private chat with Modi during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav meet, it would mean nothing. The YSRCP will be the hot favourite for the BJP in Rajya Sabha. As of now, the TDP may have to wait in the wings. Thanks to Nitish Kumar, Jagan is laughing all the way to the bank.
