YSRCP planning to form committee for BC census in AP

Social engineeringâ¦. That seems to be the buzzword in the YSRCP. Ever since it won the 2019 elections by engineering an alliance with the SC, ST and minorities along with the Reddy community, the party is not just trying to repeat the same formula, but even wants to bring in more communities under its social umbrella.
As part of this, the party has begun luring the backward communities in the state. The BCs, who have been strong backers of the TDP all these years, have moved away from it in the 2019 elections. The YSRCP wants to firm this up further. It wants to ensure that the majority of the BCs stay with the party in the 2024 elections too.
This has become all the more important as the dominant Kapu community, which formed the bulwark of the YSRCP support in the 2019 elections, is moving towards the Jana Sena. Hence, the YSRCP needs the support of the BC community. Hence the party is working hard to woo the BCs. All its schemes are now aimed to garner the support of the BCs.
The YSRCP government is said to be planning to take up the BC caste census in the state. A committee is reportedly being formed under the chairpersonship of minister Chelluboyina Venugopal Reddy to study the BC issue. The report is likely to come out before the 2024 elections so that the party would be able to capitalise on it.
