In recent times the trend of students moving abroad to pursue higher studies has picked up. The number of students who move to various countries is increasing with each passing year. At the same time, the unfortunate incidents involving Indian students are also increasing rapidly.

In many incidents, some students breathed their last while others were attacked. It is a concerning trend that Indian students are facing such a situation. Such incidents are increasing of late raising many concerns.

The data says that over 600 students died abroad in the last five years in various countries. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that in the last five years, as many as 633 students died in various incidents across the nations.

Usually, we hear such incidents more in the US and it is common to think that most of the incidents might have been recorded in the United States. But the stats have to say something else on this.

As per the information shared by the Minister, the most number of incidents were reported from Canada with 172 cases while the United States is the second place with 108 cases, the United Kingdom(58), Australia(57), and Russia(37), Germany(24), Ukraine(18), and Georgia(12). The incidents include all the reasons like natural causes and others.

Talking about the deaths caused by the attacks, 19 students lost their lives. Canada is in first place with 9 deaths while the US recorded six incidents.

The Minister said that the Indian government is giving the utmost priority for the safety of the Indian students studying abroad and the Indian missions are in contact with the students. 48 Indian students were deported from America in the last three years.
