WTH is Happening? AI Can Rent Human Beings Now?

By: Tupaki Desk | 14 March 2026 1:01 AM ISTArtificial intelligence has been created with this whole purpose of making human life easier, but things are not looking very promising now. It is turning out that AI can now start using human beings for their own works.
A new tech startup called RentAHuman is drawing global attention for introducing an unusual concept where AI agents can hire humans to perform physical tasks they cannot do themselves.
The platform functions as an online marketplace that connects autonomous artificial intelligence systems with real people who can carry out real world jobs.
The idea behind the service is simple. While AI can analyze data, write code, and make decisions digitally, it still lacks the ability to physically interact with the real world. RentAHuman bridges this gap by allowing AI systems to assign tasks to humans who register on the platform and offer their services.
People who sign up can list their skills, location, and hourly rates. AI agents then browse the database and hire workers for tasks such as delivering packages, purchasing items, taking photos or videos at specific locations, attending events, or conducting simple field checks.
Payments are usually made on an hourly basis, with some tasks reportedly paying between 50 and 70 dollars per hour.
The concept has triggered a debate in the tech community. Supporters say it could create a new form of the gig economy powered by AI, while critics warn about ethical concerns and the possibility of humans becoming mere physical extensions of software.
Despite the controversy, the startup has gone viral online, highlighting how rapidly the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence is evolving.
