Will Pawan make anna Nagababu the Jana Sena candidate from Anakapalle?

It now appears almost certain that Pawan Kalyan is all set to make his elder brother Konidela Nagababu the party candidate for the Anakapalli Lok Sabha seat. This move would bring back memories of Chiranjeevi giving party ticket from Anakapalli Lok Sabha constituency to his brother-in-law and film producer Allu Aravind during the 2009 elections. It is another matter that Allu Aravind lost the election badly.

Sources say that Nagendra Babu will have some advantages fighting the elections from Anakapalli. The constituency has a significant Kapu population. Secondly, the Konidela family has deep links with Anakapalle. Hence, Nagababu stands a better chance to fight and win from Anakapalli, argue political pundits.

At the same time, there are many claimants for the Anakapalle MP ticket. Former MP and former minister Konathala Ramakrishna has joined the Jana Sena recently. He has deep connections wth the constituency. Similarly, Ganta Srinivas Rao too has been an ex-MP from Anakapalle. Another strong contender is industrialist Byra Dileep Chakravarthy, who is close to the Konidela family.

The Jana Sena strategists feel that Nagababu, if given a ticket, will stand a good chance of winning the elections. One strong reason is that there would be a pact between the TDP and the Jana Sena. However, there are doubts if there would be an effective vote transfer from the TDP to the Jana Sena in the elections.

Highly placed sources say that Nagababu is likely to settle down in Anakapalli town and convince the electorate that he would be available to them at all times of their need. He is also going to capitalise on the family’s links with the North Andhra, especially the Anakapalli Lok Sabha seat. It remains to be seen how the Jana Sena strategy for Anakapalle takes shape.
