Why Purandeswari Cited Wrong Numbers Instead of CAG Stats?
AP BJP Chief Daggubati Purandeswari responded to the AP debts.
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 July 2023 6:17 AM GMTAP BJP Chief Daggubati Purandeswari responded to the AP debts. She tried to prove a few stats as unofficial.Following this, the observers are citing the details of the debts taken in the previous Chandrababu regime and current Jagan's regime.
Daggubati Purandeswari said that at the time of state bifurcation, the debts were Rs 97,000 crores and in five years of regime, TDP took debts of Rs 2,65,365 crores. She also said that in four years, the YCP took loans of Rs 7,14,631 crores. Following her allegations, we are hearing a few comments that CAG numbers should be considered but not some random stats
If we go deeper into the allegations made by her in the AP government as far as the debts are concerned, the actual numbers tell some other story.
While Purandeswari is saying that the state debts are Rs 97,000 crores at the time of bifurcation, the numbers say the debts are Rs 1,32,079 crores. By the time, TDP stepped down, the debts reached Rs 3,31,054 crores with an annual growth of 20.17 percent in debts. The YCP is objecting saying that she missed the details.
At the same time, Jagan government took loans of Rs 5,87,317 by the end of March this year. This shows the annual growth is just 16.13 percent, four percent less than that of Chandrababu's regime. The ruling party is saying that those who comment on debts should understand this.
Talking about the public sector entities, the Chandrababu government was at the peak in taking loans. The debts at the bifurcation were Rs 1,53,346 crores which went up to Rs 4,12,288 by the time TDP stepped down. There was an annual growth of 21.87 percent. By the end of March this year, the debts stood at Rs 6,51,789 crores.
Observers say that the CAG report says the same. CAG report says that the Jagan government is taking less debts compared to Chandrababu's. At the same time, the capital expenditure is also less.
While Rs 76,139 crores were spent in Chandrababu's regime in five years, with an annual expenditure of Rs 15,225 crores, Rs 75,411 crores were spent in just four years after Jagan became the CM.
Purandeswari also said that the roads condition is not good. Following this, the details of the amount spent by different governments are coming out now. The details say that TDP spent Rs 3,160 crores on the roads in the regime and YCP spent Rs 4,493 crores in just four years.
The employees not receiving salaries on time is another allegation Purandeswari made against the AP government. But what needs to be understood here is that the salaries that need to be paid in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh is Rs 23,997 crores and Rs 7,789 crores in Gujarat. But coming to AP, the bill is 24,681 crores.
While Chandrababu spent Rs 53,811 crores for salaries and pensions of the employees between 2018-19, Rs 66,470 crores were spent for the same between 2020-21, but the BJP leaders are forgetting these details.
On the other hand, the YCP government has been clearing the Zen-Co bills, Contracts Bills and other debts from time to time. The Jagan government is crediting Rs 2.20 lakh crores in the accounts of the beneficiaries.
The state revenue went for a toss during the Covid outbreak. Despite this, not even a single scheme was stopped and no community faced any issues. We cannot say that Purandeshwari is not aware of all this. Maybe she might have thought of quoting wrong numbers by forgetting the actual truths. As a result, wrong numbers came to light despite the CAG numbers being very clear.
