Daggubati Purandeswari In Search Of Suitable Constituencies?

Daggubati Purandeswari was recently given the plum post of chief of Bharatiya Janata Party’s AP wing. Though a few names popped up, the central leadership preferred her. When the elections were one year away, the leadership gave her the position. Purandeswari who is fondly called Chinnamma received a grand welcome in Andhra Pradesh.

The party pinned high hopes on her. Keeping the discussion of what she can do for the party, one thing is being discussed among the political observers and enthusiasts. More and more theories are coming out in this regard.

If we have to take anything from the media reports, Daggubati Purandeswari will not contest the next elections as an MP candidate and she will try her luck as the MLA this time. It is also said that she is in search of suitable constituencies.

If everything goes well we can see Daggubati Purandeswari in the Assembly as the voice of the BJP. It is said that she wants to try the MLA polls this time. Two seats are being picked for this.

She might pick between Rajampet and Parchur constituencies for the next elections. Political observers say that Parchur might be preferred due to various reasons. Her in-law's family had a big legacy there and her husband Dr. Daggubati Venkateswara Rao won the elections there as many as five times.

On top of the legacy, the Kamma community is one of the dominant castes in Parchur as it holds the economic power and political influence. This factor would also help her win the seat.

Daggubati Purandeswari is one of the few leaders from Andhra Pradesh who served as the Union Minister. In the UPA government, she held a few portfolios. She contested MP seats throughout her career.

However, things didn't go well in her favor in the 2014 and 2019 elections. She lost both elections. Keeping this in mind, Daggubati Purandeswari reportedly wants to contest the MLA elections. BJP has been trying hard to make an entry into AP politics and open its account. But that did not happen. Daggubati Purandeswari might help the BJP to have its foot in the state in the next elections.
