It is known that the Congress party registered a landslide victory in the recent Karnataka elections. The election promises played a big role in this. Providing free travel for women in RTC buses was one of the major promises made by the party that helped in coming to power.

Without taking any backstep, the Congress party has been implementing this. Women can travel for free in a few types of RTC buses. People are happy with the decision. Special cards were given to women for their free travel in a big event.

However, the decision is getting a harsh reaction from the private transporters.m As Women are getting a free ride, people accompanying them are also taking RTC buses. With this, private operators received a big blow and they are fighting against this.

They want the government to change the decision so that their businesses won't be affected. However, it looks like the government is not ready to give a positive response to their demand.

With no option left, the private transporters called for a bundh. Commuters had to take the RTC buses for travel. Not just the common people, even celebrities were forced to take the RTC buses for their commute.

Veteran leg-spinner Anil Kumble is also not exempt from this. He had opted for the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus to go home. Taking to Twitter which is X now, Anil Kumble shared a picture and captioned it “BMTC trip back home today from the airport."

The bundh had a big impact on commuters dependent on private transport for their commute. More than two dozen companies supported the bundh and their vehicles did not hit the road.
