School Textbooks to Have Bharat In the Place Of India?

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) which has been in power at the Centre for two consecutive terms took many decisions that others did not dare to do. Be it Scrapping Article 370, Triple Talaq, Demonetisation, Agricultural laws, and others, the party made many big decisions.

In what could be a mother of all decisions, the proposal was made to change the name of the country. As a nation, we are called as India. However, the government started using the word Bharat for official purposes.

All these debates started when India sent invitations to the guests of the G20 presidential dinner in the name of the President of Bharat instead of the President of Bharat. The opposition parties slammed the BJP over the decision and said that the Centre decided on the name change as the opposition parties alliance is named as INDIA.

Now it is said that Bharat will replace India in the textbooks as well as per the new recommendations. A special panel is believed to have proposed that Bharat should replace India in the textbooks. Besides this, a few more recommendations are also made.

Media reports say that a panel of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) recommended replacing India with Bharat in the school textbooks. The decision is said to be unanimous as all the members of the committee voted for the decision say reports.

On the other hand, the committee reportedly said that the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) should be included in the curriculum and the classic history should be replaced with ancient history.
