Why BJP asked leaders not to talk about Kavitha Kalwakuntla?

The BJP national leadership has reportedly issued a diktat to all its leaders in Telangana not to talk about the Delhi liquor case and the CBI notices to CM KCR’s daughter Kavitha Kalwakuntla. The national leadership feels that indiscreet comments by the leaders from Telangana would actually be counter-productive.

Last time, when Kavitha was issued notices in connection with the liquor scam, the BJP leaders fell head over heels claiming that Kavitha would soon land behind the bars. This was used by the BRS to claim that the BJP was wreaking vengeance. The BRS tried to gain sympathy out of the whole issue.

At the same time, there was no arrest of Kavitha in this case so far. This has emboldened the BRS to dare the BJP to arrest Kavitha. As a result, the BJP cadre got demoralised and began to feel that there is some underhand dealing between the BRS and the BJP. Realising this, the BJP has given clear instructions to all the leaders not to talk about the Delhi liquor scam.

At the same time, the BJP national leadership has also barred the leaders from AP not to talk anything about alliances before the 2014 elections. This assumes significance as Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan has announced that he would align with the TDP for the 2024 elections. Pawan is member of the NDA and has unilaterally announced his support to the TDP. The BJP wants to tread the thin line for some more time. Hence the diktat.
